Dharma Project Hiring : Executive Director

The Opportunity:

The Dharma Project is seeking a new executive director to lead them through a period of transformational growth.

The ideal candidate is an energetic and nurturing leader with strong communication and fundraising skills, has enthusiasm for the organization’s mission, and experience growing a small business or nonprofit.

About The Organization:

Dharma Project was founded in 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia to shift the narrative around who practices yoga and self-care.

Dharma Project brings mindfulness and yoga to communities that experience trauma. Dharma Project currently serves men, women and youth experiencing incarceration, students at under resourced schools, refugee women and girls, and seniors in housing authorities.

Driven by the intention to diversify the audience of people who teach and benefit from the practices of yoga and mindfulness, Dharma Project has partnered with organizations such as the Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, Atlanta Public Schools, Purpose Built Schools, Decatur Housing Authority, and Refugee Women’s Network to bring yoga to over 1000 community members and leaders.

Dharma Project is the first and only vocational school to offer a yoga certification program with the Department of Corrections. Dharma Project is currently conducting Georgia’s first 200-hour yoga teacher training in two separate prison facilities.

After eight years of bringing Dharma Project to life and building a strong foundation, Dharma Project’s founder is transitioning from her position as Executive Director to welcome the next stage of leadership.

Executive Director Roles and Responsibilities:

·      Work with the board of directors to articulate the vision and strategic goals for the Dharma Project to reach its next level of excellence.

·      Oversee all fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation and stewardship, and events.

·      Oversee fiscal management of the organization, including budgeting and reporting.

·      Navigate and nurture board and donor relationships.

·      Oversee the Director of Operations and Programs, contractors, and additional staff as the organization grows.

·      Ready to wear multiple hats, as needed, to creatively problem solve.

Qualifications and Experience:

·      Growing a nonprofit or small business.

·      Financial and operations management.

·      Effectively managing and leading others.

·      Proven fundraising acumen.

·      Effective communication skills.

·      Building and maintaining a network of key stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits:

A competitive salary of $65-$70K and health insurance stipend provided. Hybrid/remote position. Flexible PTO.
